Red face wow - NEW tranny for $2500

I just got off the phone with a guy named Roger at powerhausII. I was discussing their 944LSD, which btw seems like a good deal at $900. Then he started telling me about a 91 944S2 trans he has for sale, NEW, for $2500. Is this a good deal, or too good to be true? It doesn't have a cooler or LSD, but does that explain the price? I mean, to rebuild my tranny is $2000, so why the heck wouldn't I get the brand new one for $2500? Somebody tell me if I should jump on this, or if its ridiculous. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Also, I figured I could bolt on the oil cooler from my present tranny to it, and have him put in the LSD before he ships it.

2000 was just for the rebuild (gaskets, syncros, bearings).

Is 91 S2 tranny really stronger than an 86 Turbo tranny?

Has anybody here dealt with powerhausII?

For about $4000, Fordahl Motorsport can rebuild my 951S tranny with steel syncro conversion, further harden the internal, extend the oiling system so that it now sprays onto the cluster, new torque biasing diff.

No way. The gears wouldn't give you trouble but the S2 R&P can't handle the torque of a turbo. 951 tranny is tougher.
