Hey Obin

I think I remember you saying that you were taping all 24 hours of the race yesterday and I was wondering how much it would cost you to make a copy of it all and send it down my way. What do you think?

It was an excellent race, although I watched it, didn't record any of it, might've been a mistake...

i'm here, been REALLY busy lately though.

hmm, well, you caught me at a good time, i have two old VCRs that i am going to take out back and shoot to pieces... but before they get destroyed i can dub the races for you guys. remember though that this is a real-time 24-hour event so a dub would take FOREVER for a bunch of people. the length of the tapes minus commercials is about 21 hours or so. i have it on 3 of those 8 hour tapes.

hmm, i'm not sure the best way to do this. i could start a dub before i left for work in the morning, and then another tape when i get home, then the last tape before i go to sleep. at that rate it would take me a day per dub.

i don't mind making the copies, but i can't promise a dozen people that they can get copies because the VCRs might totally crap out. i AM willing to make the copies for no profit (that's the legal way) for you guys just so that you can watch the race in it's entirety.

i was also thinking of getting one of those video cards with the input so that i can make mpegs of the race, but i think that would be like 70gigs or so even with compression. any suggestions on the best way to do this?

thanks!

obin

ok, here's what i can do...

i am going to make a dub for my friend this weekend. he went to the race and he's the one that took those daytona pics. let me see if i can set it up so that 2 VCRs are recording while one is playing back.

i'll keep everyone informed.

make a dub, send it to the first person who gets it for a week, then he sends it to the next person...

Works for me, but I'm not sure if I can watch the whole in a week.

if a week isn't long enough you can copy the dub...you'll lose a little quality but it should still be watchable.
