The CV joints have a female bolt head that takes an 12 point wrench. A hex sometimes works on it but I would get the 12 point. You can get one at NAPA among other places. Mine says K D 2304 on it.

Here in England they're called Spline Bits, and you can get a full set for a Ford Pinto engine, which contains all the sizes you need for every Spline bolt on the car.

The CV bolts are stock, 12 point female socket head, or some use 6 point female socket head (allen). Lilse makes a 12 point tool with a 1/2" male hex shank. I like this tool better with CVs. Its easier to handle with greasy hands from packing them than a socket type tool. I believe the size is 8mm. The Lilse kit, contains 4 or 5 different sizes, is about $15 at Western Auto.

Haven't pulled a 944 flywheel, but I think they are a 10 mm Allen. If a 12 point, I expect one of the Lilse will fit.

If a 6 point Allen, most parts places or industrial supply places have them in metric.
