Realride.com quit racing Porsches?
Please tell me it ain't so!
I just went to the website and it seems that all the articles and race reports are about the Mazda RX7's, no recent ones on the Porsches? What gives? Hope I can still get Technical advice on the 944's at the Message Board though. Seano |

Seano,
We haven't quit racing Porsches. We're merely downscaling the Porsche side of the racing and concentrating on the other cars. We just got back from Buttonwillow Raceway where we entered the 2 Mazda RX7's in the NASA Pro-Racing Series. Between the two cars and four races, we managed a 1st, 2 x 2nd, 1 3rd and a Fastest Lap of the race award. Not bad considering the car that won fastest lap is our newest car in it's Racing Debut! In this month's Grassroots Motorsports Magazine, there is an article about our intentions for the 2001 Race Season. We just acquired a new car for the ASC Championship and will have it running by mid-season. We also have a 3.0L 550hp 944Turbo lightweight racecar being built at the moment. This car will be our only Porsche left but will run only one professional race this year, a 4hr Endurance Race. If you'd like to read the Press Release, we've also posted it at our website under Race Reports. Good luck to you all...
I just came back from an auto-x with NASA virginia region. A friend of mine won $110 in pro racing class, did I mention he was 14!!! (on a cart). Some of us are lucky, others are much luckier! I would've loved to start racing when I was 14! Anyway, good luck to you, and keep checking back here! Ahmet ------------------ It's all the driver... |

I went to your website, wow! If you ever need a test driver I'm the man. Just kidding, I wouldn't know what to do with that kind of power. When are you guys planning on racing next? When is the new car due, you state mid season which is in what month? I can't wait to see this thing. Also, is this 944 Turbo 3 liter a 16v or 8v? I would imagine it has to be a monster at 550hp. I have a few questions about my 1987 944 Turbo that I plan on PCA Clubracing soon. I'll post the questions at your message board since I know you don't visit here as often.

Seano,
The new car that we are building is for a new Professional Series called American Stockcar Challenge (ASC). If you go to our site (under Race Reports), we've posted a Press Release spelling out the details of the car and it's specs. Basically, the series is 12 races in the West Coast (California, Oregan, Arizona) for full Tube-framed V8 Stockcars running on Road Courses. We have a couple of NASCAR boys running the series like Steve Petty, and we're hoping to show some of the Roundy Round Boys how to turn Right as well ;-) Our other car being built is a Porsche 944 Turbo with a 3.0L engine. We'll be starting with an 8v head and switching over to our 16v head next year. The car has an IFC fiberglass widebody and develops over 550hp in 8v trim. At the moment, plans are to run the car in a few Club Races before we run the POC's Annual 4hr Night Endurance Race which will be aired on Speedvision again. Please feel free to post a hello note at our Discussion Forum anytime, we're always interested in hearing from fellow Porsche enthusiasts. Regards, David PENNYWEB/REALRIDE.COM RACING http://www.
