I think I've seen some for $30 or $40 on this BBS. The best price I've seen lately on the east coast is PAP in Murrayville, GA. I think they have a Web Page.
drew1 edit: this is for CV, boot, bolts, & grease [This message has been edited by drew1 (edited 02-17-2001).] |

Let me relate "rest of the story".
My car rolled backward across the alley into the neighbors carport. It scraped the passenger door and came to rest with a pole against the door. There was a rock underneath the car that actually stopped the vehicle when it lodged against the transaxle on the passenger side. I had to jack up the car, remove the rock, then drive back to my parking spot. Not pretty. The first thing I did was get it to the exhaust shop where we put it on the lift. Car runs strong, but I could tell the exhaust hangers were shot. Easily ($60) fixed. Now I hear a strange noise from the RR of the car when under load--up hill and aggressive acceleration off the line. I can hear it groaning when I hit a bump--only on the right rear wheel, though. I can hear it with the clutch in or out. Could be the torque tube pushed forward into the clutch, but I'm leaning toward the right axle/ CV cuz it only makes noise under certain conditions. Engine is fine and car is fine on a straight smooth hiway. It would be pretty easy for me to replace the entire half shaft and CV's w/ a junkyard unit but I don't know if they are all the same or not. The car is a 1980 924T w/ the Porsche transmission. Thanks Drew and any help appreciated. Nick |

Nick,
If your exhaust system was damaged and hangers replaced, check out where the waste gate pipe connects to the catalytic converter. They could have some misallignment from the damage or the repair & rehanging. Check & make sure nothing put the parking cable in a bind dragging the right side shoes. I hope it's not the transmission drive flange. Get her in the air and supported for you under neath & have somebody turn the wheel & watch the flange for runout. drew1 |
