New 912?

I know this is not the 912 forum, but quick question. I've been seeing some traffic on YouTube of Porsche doing a 912 for 2025. Is this just you tube rendering/clickbait or real?

If real, and IF it is true to the original 912 concept, I am going to order one. It would make a great stablemate to my 76 912E.

I really like the 944 S2, and with the super low miles and being garaged and babied it's life it rides and drives like a new car. I'll be happy with it into my old age, but if they do a true 912, I'm on it!

Maybe the 912 is the replacement for the Cayman/Boxster https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a61532178/porsches-718-boxster-cayman-end-production/

If Porsche creates a new front-engined sports car they will certainly take inspiration from the 944 or 928. I'm not sure how much focus they're putting into new gasoline engines though.

Looking at my window sticker on my 1989 951 at 43,500 dollars. That’s over $100,000 today! Guess my dreams of a new 944 turbo are dashed!

IMO, they could do this by modifying - shortening the Panamera platform. I still can't believe they don't have a coupe version of the Taycan.

New 912 could be a detuned 991 1/2 or, 912 G (gelded?).

beetles were great , not because of the build quality but because of simplicity and not breaking the mold so frequently. That's what enabled such a wide range of bolt on accessories and aftermarket parts. Many bought Harleys for similar reasons.

This consumer does not want to own a fast fashion car. A modern electric Lada, well maybe ;-)
500 dollar tail light lenses , because they are "special" and obsolete after 10 years.. ? no thanks

what's a realistic price for a replacement tail light lens? FIVE BUCKS ! they are no harder to make than a friggin bucket.

In my 'fantasy' it is a base/low content 911 body and chassis, with the leather/checkered cloth center seats, and the motor from the 718. All for a starting price close to the 718 series.

But Porsche is looking UP market to be more in the Ferrari and friends orbit.

I'm just a working class soon to be retire schlub who only owns 2 P cars because I rescued them and restored myself.

If Porsche did this, I would sell my 944 S2 and Bullitt.
