Hi all,
recently became the owner of an 86 n/a. Seems to run fine so far, but I think I have to change the heater valve. It appears that coolant is leaking out of the valve itself. I replaced the upper hose, so I am thinking it is the valve. I have been searching this forum for clues on how to change this out. It looks like it might be a difficult job since it is such a tight fit down there. If anyone has done this before, I would appreciate a few pointers on how to make this job easier. Thanks |

Welcome to the madness. Soul check is on the left, tool checkout is on the right.
No real trick to it. Just need some long arms and a long screwdriver. You are going to lose some coolant - you will have to bleed the system (do a search, been covered several times on how to do it) It can be helpful (if you have short arms) to jack the car up a bit so you have access from the top and bottom. I have a brand new heater valve. I purchased it for my 87 944 and ended up not needing it. I can ship it to you for $22.
Let me know. Thanks Ross |
