What's wrong with you people?

Okay, why is it that a "what is your favorite color" or "where do you live" thread will have like 30 responses, and tech threads have like 0 - 3 responses each? What gives?

Mostly because those tech questions have been asked 100 times before and the people who have been here for a while got sick of answering them. Try the search feature, you can find the answer to most questions about 15 times that way.

I'm still learning and don't know much about 944s so I don't reply much because I don't have the experince to help. If it is an engine performance problem I try to help but not having much experince myself and not knowing what tools and experince someone has can make it difficult to help.

There are a few people on this board that are nice enough to share their techical advice...some are reputable and some ....well......we know who are and who's not....anyway mick.....we do like the techinical Q's and A's and if your willing to give us your expertise we would be happy to rely on you.....some people are interested in paint, some in electronics, some in just being a 944phile........we all have different tastes and wants......you know the guy who goes into a guitar shop, doen't knwo how to play but just likes being there? That's some of us.......then you have the Eddy Van Halens that are willing to drip 944 knowledge on us from time to time. You seem new here and I for one would like to pick your noggin when I have questions......what's your background?..........vas deferens

Thanks guys, really I was just kinda joshin w/ ya. I used to have an Integra Type R, and sold it for the Saab because I needed something more practical (5-door hatch is great when you've got two kids and a mountain biking habit). Then I got the car bug again and turned the Saab into a weekend racer.

Last summer I was the victim of a hit and run that had my Saab off the road for nearly six months. Having no rental coverage, I bought the 944 as a temporary daily driver with the intent on fixing it up for weekend racing this summer, which is what I've been working on.

I'm not a great mechanic, but I tackle my own work when I have time, and am teaching myself new things as often as possible. I still hire out the major work. I became very familiar with turbo systems getting my Saab to over 270 hp, and wanted something N/A for a track car for reliability purposes (in Oklahoma, a lot of our summer races are in 100-degree weather, where heat soak becomes as issue).

I've probably spent more money on the 944 than I should considering its value, but hey, you never recover your money when you go modifiying cars anyway. Plus, it's more fun than the Type R even though it is considerably slower. So that's me, thanks for the feedback guys.

I don't mind 'off subject posts', but I would like to suggest we all review our messages before we do post them, putting ourselves in the other guys shoes in the process.
It's hard to guess what is in the other guys(ladys) head...we need more details, like .year????.,model???..and a bit more effort at using better overall discriptions of the problems history, or changes in the car just before this or that happened......(actually I like the one about, "my battery went dead because my radiator fan was stuck on, what's wrong?"...ha ha...even I can answer that one!

well mick, it depends on what you drop those modifying $'s into. modified 951's can actually fetch a pretty penny. there are 2 in excellence for $20k+ right now! however a modified 944 will not fetch much over market value, well, because all the modifying in the world and they still wont be equal to a 951. i know this as i have both and have dumped over $20k in my 944!! I highly advise people to sell their 944 and buy a 951 before they go modifying it. as for dumping alot of $ into a saab, no comment.

Mick,
On the technical stuff, most of us are amatures. It seems that most of us don't mind sharing knowledge from our experiences. These 944s are pretty complicated in a lot of areas & I don't think we have run into all of the problems yet.
