I don't know about a 924, but it's right in front of the gas tank on a 951. You will have to jack up the rear end of the car (or at least the right side) to get to it if it's in the same place on your car.

At least that is where most 924s have the filters, some have them at the back also I think.

But there is a fuelline coming towards it and going away to the fuel injection pump and on that pump goes another line away back to the fuel tank so I guess that that is the fuel filter it's like 10-15cm in length and 3-5cm in diameter and made off aluminum thanks MrE

According to the haynes manual you should remove the fuel pumps fuse and run the car till it stops then clamp the fuel lines so as to avoid excess fuel dripping on you then go about your business of removing the filter and reinstalling the new one. Then take of the clamps and put the fuse back in and tada you are done, or should be. Some people don't find it necesary to remove the fuse but I don't see why not. Especially if you're an amateur. -Tim

That is interesting to see that they relocated the fuel filter to a different location..... Anyhow, the fuel filter is an easy job, as long as you can break the connection good. You gotta hold the fuel filter with a wrench so you dont bust the fuel line from the twisting. Get a can or container and a hose maybe ready to let the fuel that is in the lines come out when you get it off, and also watch the fuel filter since it is full of fuel. The only hard thing about the fuel filter job is not spilling fuel, otherwise its easy. And hopefully you can get the connections with your wrench off ok without rounding the nuts or spindles or whatever you call those things. Try not to use an adjustable wrench because you might round things....but you also may need some leverage so you may have to use a big adjustable. Don't smoke a big fat cigar or have the pilot light on when you gonna do this I guess. [This message has been edited by AMCPorsche924Powerhaus! (edited 02-23-2001).]

Is it true that there are more than one fuel filter and that they are al on a different place. Are there books or schematics for a Porsche 924 1983 (Europe car)where you can see where every part is and how its put together? MrE

I'm not sure about the fuel filters, most have one filter, maybe all. There is a European Haynes manual for the 924 that tells you how the systems work and basic layout. There is the Factory Porsche manual that I don't have so I don't know what all is in it.
