WTB - 944 S/S2 Idle control valves/air flow meters
Looking to buy used s & S2 OEM idle control valves and air flow meters. I am starting a small rebuilding service and need some cores/parts.
Please PM. Scammers - if you've not been a member for at least one year, please save us both time and effort and go scam the Honda/Toyota crowd...

I pried a 3 wire 88 Volvo 740 idle control valve apart just being curious, I couldn't; find much wrong with it, the one in my 89 Volvo 240 is a 2 wire one..
I replaced the 2 wire one with new.. , I couldn't see a replacement for the 3 wire one on RockOto if you compare the porsche 944 ones to volvo you may see some similarities of maybe the same part number.. I think all the OEM ones are are all Bosche not Porsche anyway.. i found it interesting it IS a motor, It just cant; turn more than about 1/3 revolution. the one I had apart probably uses the third contact to run backwards. the two wire one , wasn't; sure might be the ECU reverses the polarity , unless there is a return spring in there? I don't see how else it could turn itself back .. of course my results were only purely destructive, I just had to know how it worked so I just had to kill one to find out.. It was keeping me up at night ;-) my conclusion was there isn't much to fail they might get plugged with gunk , the motor bushings might get dirty and stuck,, the brushes were just strips of copper but they had no appreciable wear.. It didn't seal completely when closed, when open it was quite free flowing.. I figured they never need to completely seal anyway.. someone said the ECU may be making it change quite quickly back and forth.. I wasn't; sure, i figured connecting some LED's might help me see better about what is going on in real time,, like with the the way its powered,, I found hard to tell its state open, closed or midway,, when it is installed .. if you pull the armature out the brushes come loose, I don't know how you'd ever get the thing back as there is no access to compress them in order to slide the armature back in,, trade secrets I guess..lol ;;-) I hope you have good luck and success with it.
