924 coil

My daughters 1981 924 N/A auto won't start. Our mechanic wants to replace the coil but they are non available from here. (Australia) also he can't get one from Porsche.
He says it is an "inductive system" and the coil from earlier non electronic ignition models won't work. There is a small silver controllerbox located near one of the headlights.
the coil part number seems to be 211905115B for this year.
Can anyone confirm this is the part number I need to find?
Thanks

First, download PET catalog for your model and year.
second, your engine is Audi, I think, therefore you can search for the parts for Audi engine.

Do you want to try ebay (australia) or ebay (USA)?

When you say small... how small is small? Are we talking only a few (<3) cm by even less per side, or are we walking maybe a bit bigger, more like 15cm on the longest side? Not including the heat sink. Two different eras of ignition system on the 924, and not certain how that ends up on the ROW cars...

The part number you listed for the coil is correct for at least 81-onward cars in the US...

You may also wish to drop in on 924board.org - OZ-based discussion board, and a bit more locals there to boot, not to mention heaps more 924 knowledge...

Thanks for the replies. Your advice is very reassuring.

All my research shows me just 2 coils types. Pre 1980, and 81 -82. I was never sure whether the parts lists I have been using were for the whole world or just the USA. I think this car was originally delivered to Hong Kong and its a RHD.

The small box I referred to is more like 15 cm x 9cm from memory. Smaller compared to say the box in my 914.
