I need to replace the windshield in my '85.5 944. I'm 99.9% sure the physical dimentions are the same, and the 924 windshield will go into the 944, but what to do about the antenna??
The reason I ask is I can get a 924 windshield installed for $174, factory glass. The 944 is around $500. Has anyone had 924 windshield installed in a late 944? and what did you do about the antenna?? Would a signal booster work?? Don't want to install an antenna outside the body.... Thanks,

I've seen people go to a rear-window mounted cell-phone style antenna. Looks alright, but then again, its still outside the car. Just out of curiosity, why are you getting the winsheild replaced? Some states offer free vehicle glass in the case of road chips and other blemishes. I recently had the glass replaced on my audi under this policy here in KY.

Hi Nabeel,
Thanks for the info - I didn't think of the small, cell-phone type antenna. That's a great idea. I just don't want to mount anything permanent. A glass mount antenna could always be removed... I bought my '85.5 aftet the previous owner hit a guard rail or something. The hood got pushed back into the windshield, hence the need to replace. I will half to look into the state replacment policy, just out of curiosity and see if Vermont has such a program. I can imagine they wouldn't freely advertise if they did, but it would be good to know... Thanks for the help.
