				Speedometer flakey

My speedometer on my 1995 968 is flakey, at best. It will show the speed and then quit working. It will start working again and run intermittently thereafter. Any suggestions?

On a 968, the speedometer is driven by a signal from the ABS module, by way of a relay that converts the ABS signal to a square wave signal that is 100 Hz for 60 mph.

I would hook up an oscilloscope to see where the signals are failing to make it to the speedo head. Of course, if all the inputs are working, it could be that the gauge is faulty.

Intermittent speedometer issues can be frustrating. Common causes include:

	1. Faulty speedometer cable or connections 2. Worn or damaged speed sensor 3. Corrosion or damage to the instrument cluster or wiring |

Check the speedometer cable, connections, and sensor for any signs of wear or damage. Cleaning or replacing these components might resolve the issue.

stange Idea and Im one who absolutely hates digital readouts staring me in the face, and they seem cheaply made and unreliabble , but that said, foir what it's worth, I did find cheap offshore GPS speedometers online.

I do not know what they synch to, or if there is a related service bill for the connection to the sky |
