Late 944S Sunroof
I have a 1987 944S and I have a couple of issues w my sunroof. 1. Nothing happens when key is in position 1. 2. When in key in position 2 it won't stop in locked position, the arms go all the way down. I've read most all of the posts and can't find where I should start to troubleshoot. Hoping someone might shed some light for me, thanks.

https://clarks-garage.com/ has a troubleshooting guide. Click workshop manual and look for the sunroof link.

Thanks, I've read through all of it. I was just hoping someone might have had a similar issue and could provide wisdom. I'm leaning towards replacing the micro switches first.

Take out the gears from your arms units, and see if the unit stops at some point when you retract it in position 2. If it keeps going, you have microswitch issues. If it stops, then you just need to time the arms to the stop position.
Position 1 will only activate when arms are "retracted" fully in Position 2 first.

1. Check for power at the sunroof switch in Key Position 1.
2. Inspect and test sunroof microswitches at the motor. 3. Check motor clutch cam for proper adiustment (search for 944 sunroof clutch adjustment procedures). |

Have power at the switch, how do you test the microswitch?

Apparently not, as there is a section that includes testing the microswitches. i.e. Sunroof Component Testing.
Your symptom would indicate microswitch I is not functioning correctly.
