Front struts, 944 85B

Hi

Trying to help a friend with a 944. He’s trying to reassemble the front struts but is missing a rubber piece that goes on top of the strut. He claims his struts don’t use a union nut, but rather an M8 nut at the bottom of the strut to hold the insert in place. Looking in the PET catalogue I can’t see this set up. Any idea what type of struts he has? And what rubber piece he has?

I tried searching but didn’t get much wiser

Cheers!

Johan

Sounds like your friend's 944 might have aftermarket or modified struts. The M8 nut instead of a union nut is unusual. I'd recommend:

1. Checking with Porsche specialists or forums
2. Inspecting the strut's manufacturer markings (if any)
3. Measuring the strut's dimensions to identify potential matches

The rubber piece is likely a strut mount or bearing. Without more info, it's hard to pinpoint the exact part.

Thanks! I’ve told him to drop them off at my house so I can have a look

Finally got the struts to my house. They appear to be Bilstein B36 struts and the missing part is a scraper ring.
