Unlocking rear hatch from inside

Today my key was stuck and I could not open the rear hatch on my 924 turbo
The usual Trick of pressing down on the rubber spoiler and then turning the key did not work.

Any suggestions on how to unlock from the inside or on the outside?

The key turns an oval shaped metal piece with two rods attached. Each rod pulls on the lever that releases the latch.

1) Get into the luggage compartment area.
2) Pull down the carpet directly below the glass hatch.
3) Locate the two metal rods extending outwards from the keylock.
4) One at a time, pull on the rod to release each side of the hatch. I find that pushing up with your shoulder at the same time helps. A small pair of vice grips will help with getting enough pressure on the rod to release.
5) Once the hatch is open, analyze the keylock and the rods to see what is not working.

In addition to that: There could be more friction at pins, caused by gas struts pushing and "stretching" the glass (infamous hatch glass separation).

Would lubing the lock mechanism from the outside help?

I will try manually moving the pin.

I weight 170lbs, I wanted to avoid climbing back there. I cant imagine those wooden boards under the hatch carpet is strong enough

The factory did not install wooden boards. All metal. I'm pretty sure that they can support 500 pounds.
