Expansion tank - expanding???

Help,

Got back from a 20 mile run last night and water was gushing everywhere, i noticed the steam and the temp gauge and locked the car up and went for a beer.

Today i want to know what the problem is. I had a look this morning for any leaks but couldn't see any visible ones except that when i filled up the water bottle (Radiator) and started the car up, the water was coming out of the overflow, the fan was on and the temp gauge was in the red!!!!

any ideas on why this is happening?

Thanks!

Check heat of radiator - will do
Bleed the system

Hello guys,

Could you help with this one?, I;ve managed to sort out the overheating problem simply by putting more oil into the engine. It took me to band practice fine and even sounded better! made a mental note to check the oil level every other day..

But as i got into the car after band practice, the car wouldn't start. no sound coming from the fuel pump after the immobiler was switched off. I've had sopme fuel pump problems before and the wiring burned itself out last week because the croc clip on the holding wire shorted out and basically melted! ( this "repair" job was done before i got the car) anyway, i had the car taken home on a breakdown truck and when i had a look at it this morning i connected the power lead for the pump to a live source and got it off the road and into my garage. The question is, does the fuel pump run faster if it's straight to a 12volt source rather than through the relay?, i've read older posts about what the relay does etc and why it should be connected up in case of fire so I'll be sorting out the wiring this weekend and getting a new relay as i suspect it's burned out.

It never rains but it pours with this damn car.

it sounds like a stuck stat.if that happened only after 20 min, something is making it build alot of pressure.i had a similer problem but not as bad as yours, and i changed the stat and bleed it real good and it runs nice and cool, even on the hottest days it runs cool.

Cheers Scott, I think i got the overheating problem fixed. All i got to do now is replace some wiring and the relay for the fuel pump. I'll update this on Monday with my results.

Possible bad radiator cap if they dont hold pressure the coolant will boil over.
