Post Wheel Bearing

I'm going to chang my front wheel bearings. Should I use Porsche genuine parts or after market parts ($50)?
BTW, when you change your timing/balance belts, are you using Porsche or after market?

Please give me some suggestions.

Eugene

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that parts like bearings and belts are not genuine Porsche parts but supplied by certain companies to Porsche. These are Original Equipment Manufacturers. If you get OEM parts, you should be getting the same quality that Porsche put on your car originally. Maybe better with the advance in manufacturing technology and metalurgy.

I meant Porsche genunie = OEM. Sorry about that.
I don't think either Pelican or Vertex carry OEM Belts and bearings. Can I trust these parts, especially timing/balance belts? Has any one been using these part? Please let me know your experience.
Thanks alot

I wouldn't recommend vertex for anything.

These bearings you should be able to find at a vw parts store. Usually a LOT cheaper. Just bought a speedo cable, of the length I specified from a vw parts store for $12 (intended for a vw bug), many Porsche parts places wanted between $26, and $48... This cable is made in Italy, vs. the other "PORSCHE PARTS" (aftermarket) places supply parts made in Brazil. I'll take italian thank you!

Anyway, I believe FAG is the OE supplier for bearings on Porsches. ATE made a few of them too. You don't have to go dealer on bearings, make sure they're "OE or better quality", regardless of the source you get them from.

Just go to Napa or any other parts store. Any wheel bearing(Timken, Fag, Bower) will be O.K. I used Bower bearings and races in mine. Just be damn sure that your spindle isn't bent, they are super soft.
