Throttle Switch
Hey Guys, I was cleaning my throttle body, and I thought I should run an electrical check, as proposed by the Haynes manual. One of the terminals was responding to the valve being open/closed, but the other wasn't ... does anyone know or have experienced the symptoms of a bad throttle switch?? It is an 84 944NA ...
Thanks. E ------------------ Harvard PhD |
is the car running fine? was the throttle position sensor moved or tampered with? if not, dont worry and be happy http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/smile.gif

Thanks Asidrave,
the car does run fine, I was just trying to figure out why my fuel consumption is so bad (about 10Mpg, in town), and I thought that could be one of the reasons. Otherwise, I was just trying to fix the damn idle speed, since it goes nuts sometimes. I've adjusted the idle screw and the throttle position screw, but I still get temperature-dependant idle speeds, where it starts off low (about 800), then rises to 1100 as the engine warms up ... any ideas? Poor gas mileage, idle speed bouncing around yet other times ok... I'd take a look at the oxygen sensor... especially if your mileage on the car is high, like over 120K or so...

You read my mind ... I was just thinking of getting down there and checking out the oxygen sensor. I guess a new one would run me about $70 or so ... is there a preferred make? I'm just waiting for the freaking weather to get better here in boston.
Thanks for the suggestions .... E |
