My A/C fan works but the cooling fan doesn't and they both run thru the same relay. The cooling fan fuse is good.
Anybody ever have 1/2 of the relay die?

Wiring not plugged in all of the way onto the fan, bad fan motor, wiring problem, bad temp switch.
Swap the plugs for the fan motors and see if the cooling fan works off of the AC signal. Temp switch usually fails closed (on) but I've heard of a few open (off) failures. Good luck and keep us posted.

I would get out the volt meeter and check for voltage on the relay board and at the temp switch, and then run two wires from the battery to the fan and check to make sure the fan isn't bad. Relays can do funny things when they fail and anything is possible. I would bet that the fan is bad. I think the A/C switch bypasses the temp switch.

It's a new low temp switch and with the a/c fan plugged the a/c fan comes on with the temp just above the first line so I believe the switch is working properly. If I'm in traffic and get over 40 and the temp drops below the 1st line the fan shuts off.
With the engine cold, not running, , key on, a/c on, the a/c fan will also come on. It seems like with the a/c on the one/both fans are forced to run. Before I did the switch both connectors were unplugged and two wires from a bat/ground toggle switch(eng compartment) were connected all the time to the a/c fan, for use when in stop and go traffic because that's how the car was setup when I got it and I was told the temp switch was bad. The cooling fan does work when I run wires to it and that's what makes me think the relay is 1/2 bad. I'll undo the tie wraps and run the connector from the a/c fan to the cooling fan, if it's long enough. If it works I suspect the relay is bad rather than a wiring problem but will check voltages to the cooling fan switch. Thanks for your input

If I read and understand the post you may not have a problem.
From what I nderstand the drivers side fan comes on wih the temp switch. Only one fan runs to cool the engine. With the A/C on booth fans are on. The passenger side fan is only needed to help with the added heat disapation of the A/C condenser. Car hot and ignition on, 1 fan runs at high speed. A/C on and ignition on, both fans run at high speed. Car hot ignition off one fan runs at low speed.

The a/c fan is the only one that comes on as the temp warms up to the first line or if the a/c is turned on, whether the car is running or not. The a/c fan kicks off if the temp drops below the 1st line. A/C fan will also come on if the key is on, a/c on with the car not running even after sitting all nite.
I haven't had time to run the connector from the a/c to the cooling fan. Thanks

Sounds like you need to check the current flow digrams. Maybe the fans are not connected correctly.
