Escaping air

Ok when i turn off my car, hear a sound like air is escaping from somewhere, depressurizing. I want to know if its supposed to do this, or not. I bought the car about a month and a half ago and don't remember if it was doing this when i got it. Any help is good help. Thanks.

I dont really use my A/C because it doesn't work. So im not sure that it would leak if i dont use it.

Could be the cooling system. What level is the temp gauge running at -- which mark? I bet it's one of the fans. It's run a few minutes after you shut off a hot car to keep the hoses from expanding and possibly burtsing.

Please add the year and model of your car to your signiture in your personal profiles. Gets you better answers to your questions.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Is the shound a faint hiss, or is it loud???

Could also be a vaccum line??

And yeah, edit your profile to list make/year and mods done to the car.

The more info, the better the replies.

There is not much other than the prussure in the cooling system that can "escape" from a just stopped hot engine for twenty minutes.

Could be a sticking valve in the AC evaporator as inside the car in the passenger foot well is where it is located.

With out being in the car and listening we can only go on what you are describing -- or not describing.

Next to the battery in the tray area is a black plastic canister for holding vacuum, maybe it's leaking after you trun the car off.
