the coolest sound in the world

Be sure you have speakers when watching this!!

http://www.fasttrackperformance.com/page5/Chow%20movie%20files/ChrisTTGN.wmv

All hail the turbo.
Mine almost made that sound, just a lot quieter. Next time I go to the dyno I am going to film it to see how it sounds from outside the car.

I am trying to keep this on topic.

I am a major grand national fan. With the stock set up right tuning up the boost and run the right octance fuel you can run into mid to low 12's! I want to get one next spring if all goes well and I take care of all my bills I have now. I have heard 9 second twin turbo GN's in person and I had a 944 with a t4 and my turbo was silent compared to the GN. They are beast. Best buick ever made. EVER! Thanks for the video. Thats onje I don't have yet.

A few years back I thought, how fast can a Buick Regal with a V-6 be?

Then I went for a ride.....

You mean the sound of a water melon hitting the gound from the 12 story window.

Sounds alot like a human body hitting the ground when their parachutes malfunction. Looks kind of the same too.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Unfortunately yes. The one clearest in my mind was a friend for over a year and one of my first jump instructors.

He left behind two kids.

It's not the fall that gets you. It's the sudden stop at the bottom.

Sorry to hear that. I've jumped myself but that's one fear that I never really quite got over. The fear of augering in.

I stopped at about 50 jumps. Wasn't my intention to make it my sport just wanted the experiance of going stable and getting away from any junk from a sailplane breakup. I had dreams of building a couple of them.

Instead I got inner ear infections from the jumping and now have serious motion sickness problems.

Oh Well...

That's one thing I've wondered about myself many a time. I know I have the rig on my back but would I ever be able to get clear of the airframe in time if the wings folded or something? Or, will the canopy even release like it's supposed to? Kinda takes the fun out of the sport if you worry too much about it. I loved it though.

Ah yes, the B1, the loudest thing I have ever heard. there used to be a squadron of them here, so I got to listen to them every day. They would rattle the hanger I work in pretty bad. One time a window in one of our vans busted(we were 50-75 feet from the runway).

Now they are gone and we just have to deal with fighters, the second loudest thing I have ever heard.

SR-71

Was coming home from Riverside to the Perris area in the late 70's and passing March AFB there was an SR-71 making hot passes down the runway.

At that time you could get to the end of the runway just at the end of the landing lights where you could almost touch the wheels of any aircraft landing. This was a SAC base with 52's at that time.

I was able to sit under two more passes before the 71 landed for the airshow that weekend.

Yes I was driving a new 1979 924.

coolest sound IMO is a 2.7 911 engine, with weber carbs and straight exhaust. mmmmyess... of course, it'd have to be at 6,500 RPMS to sound right.
