Who'd of thunk that a 2" diameter 3' long pipe, and a 5lb mini sledge hammer would of been so handy in repairing the 944?
I just replaced my front control arm bushings, and balljoints. I also replaced the left side control arm with a new one. Only thing I have to say is, if any of you guys are wanting to replace your bushings and put in new ball joints at the same time, buy new control arms(~$40 ea., for an early), you'll thank me for this.... It only took me about 1 hour to R&R the driver's side since it was a virgin control arm, I just had to bolt on the ball joint, and slide on the bushings. It must of taken close to 4 hours to do the passenger side, due to fighting them damn bushings and drilling out the massive rivets holding on the ball joint!!! Due to the time spent on the passenger control arm, the only things I didn't get done were installing my new tierod outer ends(couldn't get the SOB's to budge), and I didn't get my new wheel bearings installed, WTH is with the 'keeper' on the wheel bearings? At least I've got plenty of Allen wrenches I can grind down to get that thing off..... I've got monday and tuesday off, I'll get those wheel bearings done then. I'll also let you guys know if those Weltmeister bushings made any difference in the driveability of the car. They sure do look pretty though

Carbide drill bit. Cuts through the hardened rivits like a hot knife through margarine. Make sure the bolts you use are hardened.
Propane torch. Heat the hell out of the bushings! Actually burn them out! Takes about five minutes. Use steel sleeved polypro bushings.

Yep, I'm using good quality bolts for the balljoints.
Burning out the bushings didn't really work, dense suckers, they just kept burning, and burning I actually gave up on burning them, and was able to get the main bolt one out using a hammer, vice and screwdriver. The caster one I cut with a grinder, and was able to split the inner metal sleeve and slide it off.The weltmeister bushings, believe it or not, do not have steel inserts, nor were they designed for them. I followed a tech write up on Paragon's site, about torqueing the main bolt down to no more than 35ft.lbs, and I backed that up with some good old locktite Red. We'll see how it does.

would looove to hear how the weltmeisters perform. I'm just surprised that they don't have steel inserts
