Hi all,
Well I was inspired by the generocety of a fellow member (Thanks again for the window regulator Roadman!!) to offer the following parts up for FREE (just cover the cost of shipping) to a good home: I recently repainted my '85.5 944, and in the process I did a "shaved bumper look", eliminating the rubber blocks on the bumpers front and rear. if anyone can use them I am offering them for free, just cover the cost of shipping. They are in great shape, and all (front and back) have all the studs still attached. I only ask that whoever requests REALLY need them, as I would like to see them go to someone who can use them, not to just re-sell or sit on a shelf. I don't know if there is any need/demand for these, but I can see where the studs could come out of the rubber pretty easily when being removed. Post here or E-mail me at: brian@eckertmotorsport.com

Yo Mama, sorry the PO installed the short shift kit. It's a AutoThority kit. Looks like it's good quality. I need to adjust it or do the 924 shim upgrade, as it has a lot of play...

do you have any pictures of the rear of the car without the bumper pads? I already have my fronts off and want to see the back with out the pads to try and help in my decision.
Also in your other thread, you said that you recovered your dash. It looks like from your pictures you used fiberglass, is that what you did?

afx,
I'll take a few pic's of the rear and post them here. I recovered my dash with marine grade vinyl. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be, i've done some vinyl work inthe past, but not much. came out perfect. I had my windshield out at the time, I don't know how good it would come out in a car with the winsahield still in. It would be tight getting the vinyl to fit properly at the windshield and cutting out the defroster vents...

Ya... it seems like it would be hard to get it to have a nice fit with the windshield still in. How hard of a job is it to take out the windshield? My dash is quite cracked up and is one of the worse things in my interior. I would love to fix it up.

Well... My car was already wrecked when I got it, the PO put it under a pick-up truck. The windshield was smashed, so it had to be replaced anyways. It seemed very difficult to remove the windshield, but I did it myself and I am no expert. I was told by my glass guy that it is a difficult windshield to remove. I would not plan on removing it in one piece...

the one thing you could do is if you have a dash cover, use it as a template to cut the vinyl before hand.
I used 3M vinyl adheasive, and it worked VERY well. If you pre-cut the vinyl from about the top of the heater vents to the windshield, leaving excess vinyl for the front of the dash, it may work out. You would need to position it correctly, and hold the vinyl in place, then apply the adheasive and work from the curve of the dash (where the dash goes from veticle to horizontle) back to the windshield. You would have to mask off the windshield, and just about everything else, as the adheasive can go everywere if you'r not REAL careful (it's a spray, and it sprays REAL well). You would only have one shot at it, but it might work. You need the excess vinyl because I think it would be very difficult to make the curves around the face of the gauges and along the sides of the heater vents from the template. I sprayed a 1" strip of adheadive, and worked the vinyl down over the dash, then trimmed the excess. Did another inch, and so on. You need to do the "inch and pull" routine bacause of the way the dash jouts out above the instermets, it makes the vinyl kinda tricky to lay down. You also want to prep the dash REAL well. I used laquer thinner, and a 3M scotch pad and scrubbed the dash until it was white! Scrubbed the color right off the dash! But the adhexive took REAL well, and the vinyl is NEVER coming off. The way I figured, it's already F*&^ED, if I F&%$ED it up worse, I just live with a plastic cover (which was already there)... I'm REAL busy right now, but I will do a FAQ on how I did my dash, and how I think (from my experience) a novice such as myself could do it with the windshield in the car.
