Post Koni Yellows???

I was repacking my wheel bearing the other day and decided to take a look at my struts. And lo and behold they are Koni's Yellows with the world "ADJUSTABLE" stamped onto em. So i was wondering how do you adjust theses things. I hear that it takes a special knob or something to that effect, where can i get ahold of one of those.

Do they have stops at the min and max adjustments?

Anybody have any adjustments to recommend.

Dave,

I'm thinking that you are talking about the back since you can't see the front without opening the strut tube.

On the back, you have to mash a little button on the top of the tube and give it a turn. The little button will click back when you reach the next setting. This means disconnecting the bottom mount.

On the front a palm wrench comes with the shocks to turn the shocks to turn the thin piece extending out the top of the shaft. A little cresent wrench will do it though.

edit: I think that the fronts have 7 settings, out of the box, 5 harder, & 1 softer. The backs have 5, out of the box, 3 harder & 1 softer. I'm not positive on this & will look for some info I have in the next day or two.

You have to first determine if your yellow konis are Porsche factory shocks(they will have a Porsche part# on them), or if they are koni replacements...The most recent koni replacements adjust as indicated above...check out this page for different methods of koni adjustment
http://www.tech-session.com/Paragon/Info/koni_adjustment_procedures.htm
I recently put new yellow konis on my car...the yellow konis that came off have a 944 part# on them, and are made quite different than my new ones...They did have "adjustment" stamped in them...I didn't try to figure out how my old ones adjust, but thought one of the methods described on the above link was probably it...good luck!...Cus

Dave, I checked the yellow koni that I had removed from my car, and the adjustment method is the one as described on the link by compressing the shock all the way, and turning the top portion until the adjuster clicks into place, then turn to adjust as indicated by the arrow...Cus

Dave,
Checked the fronts on wife's car. No clicks, just turn. It seems like a little over 1 turn is max.

On the rear, by info I have 4 clicks is max CCW for 1 7/8 dia & 3 clicks max for 1 5/8 dia.

Thanks for all the info. I guess i'll have to check out the adjustments as soon as it stops snowing.

I only have Konis on the front. Couldnt afford a set for the back.
