Just Mic'd My Balls!!!! Pictures at 11:00

Yeap just got out the dial calipers and mic'd the diameters of the two different size ball joints we have in our 944's.

The early diameter for the steel arms is : 0.983"

While the aluminum arms is : 1.063"

I have a sneeking hunch that the later aluminum ball joints "guts" is the same as the late 80's 911 replaceable cartridge.

Anyone have a dead 911 ball joint they can grind open???

If so this means the ball joints on the aluminum arms can be replace for around $40 each and a little labor.

Yes I know never rebuild an aluminum arm that has damage to the ball joint socket.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?
