The aluminum torque tube has successfully weathered a severe trackday, and has several weeks of long distance driving on it. It is running very smooth with no issues. Looks like time to go into full production, anyone interested?

24lbs lighter than stock, uses off the shelf bearings, user rebuildable, $1100 exchange. What you're getting is an all aluminum torque tube made from 6061T6 1/4 wall aluminum. That's twice as thick as the aluminum used in Pro Stock driveshafts, and those guys can really make some torque. The only steel left in mine is the original driveshaft, bearings, and locater screws. There are some pictures in a gallery over on the Rennlist. Just do a search on the 944/951/968 board.

nice weight reduction! 11 bills though, I'd have to wait a bit on that one until after I finish some planned engine mods

I know it looks like a lot, but go price one at the dealer and nobody else has one in aluminum.

A major factor is the price of the aluminum. Aluminum is very energy intensive to manufacture, hence the price is always much higher than steel, sometimes by multiples. I'm not a big guy, these tubes are a sideline so I really can't afford to finance anybody, even me, sorry. If you have anything else you'd like to see made, let me know.
