Talking Porsche Video Game Sighting

I don't know if Obin wants video game sightings for his list, but since I play quite a bit of them here's 2. Of course there's almost every Porsche created in Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed. So that's a cheap one. But there's also a much more obscure 928 in the arcade game Chase HQ by Taito (1988). Here's a humorous description of the game:
"Your custom Porche has a two-speed gear shift and is equipped with a button activated turbo booster. What better purpose than to ram into the vehicles driven by escaping criminals? Great action from Taito!"

Yes, don't we all wish we had a two-speed Porsche that we could use to ram other cars with... :P

And since I'm bored at work, here's a few screenshots of the bugger:

I had that game on Gameboy! I remember playing it in the arcade. Very Miami Viceish looking.

hmmm,

yeah, i'll start adding those too. being that it's not a "Porsche" video game, but the designers chose a Porsche over all other cars.

yeah, i'll start up that category too

All of the NFS (Need for Speed) games have Porsches: I, II, III (Hot Pursuit), and IV (High Stakes).

By far, NFS:Porsche Unleashed is the best racing video game for the PC! When they came out with this game, I thought, "Gee, they designed a game JUST for ME!"

I'll dig up all my sources and start researching for Porsches in video games!

Obin: here's a TV show Porsche appearance: Gene Roddenberry's Earth Final Conflict: first episode: the main character's wife is murdered and the killer drives a black 356 convertable: I think it's a speedster.

Thanks,
-Zoltan.

There used to be a home computer game called "Test Drive" around 1987 that gave you the option to drive a Porsche as well. Ah....the '80s and video games (harp music playing).

Also, could it be possible to have a famous celebrity Porsche owners category? I know that Jerry Seinfeld is a religious Porsche collector, the late F1 driver Ayrton Senna owned a 944, and LeMans winner Derek Bell has a 924 GT. Just a thought.

Wow a game that includes both Porsches, guns and high speed driving! What more can you wish for

Anybody familiar with the game Carmaggedon? There's a Porsche 993 in it, but you can't pick that right from the start of the game. You need to conquest it by driving into it until it's broken down...? Silly, but lots of fun....muahahahah

I have an old (early 90's) computer game called Car&Driver (yes it is based on the publication of the same name). You get to drive a 959 in the game. The beauty of the game is, you get the actual C&D magazine write-up on each car, including all relavant stats.

If by "the 928 game" you're referring to ChaseHQ, then it was put out on a number of systems. The screenshots are from the arcade cabinet. It also had various versions or sequels released on Game Boy, Game Boy Color, NES, Game Gear, Genesis, Saturn, Super Nintendo, TurboGrafx 16, and I think versions on Commodore 64 and Commodore Amiga.

And no, I don't have this rubbish memorized. Once again I'm at work with nothing better to do. Everyone else knows cars, I know video games.

Talking

I remember playing Chase HQ at Peter Piper Pizza 10 years ago when I was in the fifth grade. I loved that game and yes, I knew I was driving a Porsche. That's why I liked the game.

My all time favorite arcade video game is Hard/Race Driving. It was an excellent driving simulater game. You drove a Testarossa and had a clutch and stick shift and everything seened so real....at least 10 years ago it did. I haven't seen that game in a while though.

I remember Race Driving. I thought a race game with a clutch was incredible. Too bad I was 10 at the time and had no idea what to do with it.

Oh and I know this all getting off topic, but it's only one thread, right? I won't invade the rest of the tech board. BTW, here's something on topic... what tools do I need to replace the sunroof seals on my 85.5? Is it a pretty straightforward procedure?

Back to Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed...

I thought that they made some really odd choices for what you can/can't drive in the game. For example, you can get the 935 Moby Dick and the 550A Spyder, but can't get a 917! And there are NUMEROUS 944s to choose from, but no 924s and no 968 (i was especially surprised that there were no 968s)! AND the only way to play as the 928GTS and 959 and GT1 and GT2 is to download the cars and play them in single player mode... why were relevent porsches such as the 928 and 914 left out of the game?!?

Yea, they didn't make the best selections. How many variations of the 356 do they have? Surely they could have put a more enjoyble car in like a 968 turbo s. Oh well. I heard there s another version coming out?
