Clutch just went....

Well, I was going from 4th to 5th going on the highway when the car just revved all the way so i pulled over and tried to get in all the gears and all of them revved and it smelt like clutch bad. So i called the toe truck. Right now its sitting in my grandparents garage waiting to be worked on. Any tips on the clutch job? Anything I should do while im in there?

I just started doing mine...an 87. She had rubber pieces sitting on the bottom. (where I pulled off the starter) So far I've removed the starter and the drive axles. There are lots of good posts here to help. I now have the confidence to do the job myself (mostly!) Good luck

it would be unusual for the clutch to go shifting from 4 to 5, without some previous warning, such as slipping, or smelling. was there a clunkl of any kind??? do you abuse the clutch so you knew it was going?
