Hi, I too have had some worries about this chain, after reading some scary things. I asked a porsche centre to check it out during a service and they said it was ok. I pressed them further and was told that the problem is usually caused by skimped servicing by Joe Bloggs and the use of other oils. Of course this could be what you would expect them to say, but they could also have said ' yes sir it needs doing and will cost you---' Who knows what to do, that's the trouble when you hear stories. I might change mine, damn it!

The big deal with the S cars is the plastic part of the chain guide. When the guide breaks the chain snags the metal carrier and starts ripping things apart.
