Post 951 radiator vent screw?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me for sure where the cooling system vent bolt is? Here is a photo of what I THINK it is. I remember where it was on my NA 944 but I'm a bit confused on the 951.

Thanks

Hi Kevin well your in he right place look under the big hose that comes from the turbo, and you will see a hose that goes to the top of the radiator..... any way where
this hose connects to the engine look and you will see a bolt that sticks out of the side of the housing this is the bleed bolt.
To bleed your system it helps to jack the car up on jack stands (the front only)
open your heater valve and top up the resivour. I hope you know to use Phosphate free coolant.. it will say it on the side of the coolant container, I use stuff from Havoline it also might be called Dexcool, it is orange. this will prevent the coolant from making deposits in your radiator and clogging things later on and the Dexcool is good for far longer than the other non phosphate stuff.....
Any way start the car and let it idle open the bleed screw and see if you have any air or bubbles coming out. then close it back up also make shure you have the resiv cap on so the system will start to build up pressure, after it is warm keep open ing the bleeder and closing it now rev the engine and hold about 2000 rpm for a min or so this will make the coolant flow thru the heater core and purge the air out of it, open the bleeder a few more times , air should be less and less till there is only coolant coming out... after this point make shure the fans come on and shut off and the system stays in the 3/4to lower portion of your gauge if all looks good then shut off the car and let it cool some take a hose and very carefully rinse from the bleeder screw let this help to rinse the coolant from the top balance shaft do this while the car is jacked up to aid in the old stuff draining out be careful not to spray water into the speed sensors as this will get into your clutch and starter and mess things up.hope this helps...Stan
