Rebuild of power steering hose

Need to know if anyone has rebuilt the return line power steering hose, this is the $130+ dollar hose attached to the metal pipe assy that runs down next to the passenger headlight.

I am hoping just to have the hose repaired rather then buying a new one. The rubber side that attches to the reseviour has a split going down the length almost to the metal fitting.

Thanks in advance.

The only thing I've ever seen is the generic "make-a-hose" kit's at the parts store. I wouldn't trust them, and I would be weary of any Power stearing hose "repair kit" due to the high pressure in the lines...

I've made replacment lines out of braided stainless. Usually less than stock part (from dealer) and far superior in durability and strength (and looks, IMHO)

BUT if you want to maintain originality, braided stainless is not the way to go.

My local NAPA boasts to be able to make every type of hose under the sun, I was thinking more along the lines of "professional" repair.

But then again, I just noticed that Pelican has it for under a hundred, so that may be my course of action.

I've seen a remade A/C hose, looked great - professionally done, there's nothing wrong with having a hose simply re-"hosed", identical to new for cheap.

Call around auto part stores industrial usually work best for hose making should be around $10 for the exact same hose made from scratch
If it doesn't fit or leaks take it right back and tell them to make it right they will with no hassle

Scott, if its the return line there is no substantial pressure in it. If its the pressure line, NAPA or an industrial hydraulic store can make one up for cheap.

Its the return, so any new fluid I add beyond the first mark leaks out overnight through the crack in the hose.
