Removing window tint
on the 928, looks bad. heard best way is to use a hot air gun; true?
worth the hassle diy or should i think about bringing into a detail or autoglass shop for removal? the po put tint everywhere except windshield. arghhh. |
hot air should do it, just don't singe the film by getting too close. also, take care to not burn seals and trim, etc.
|
oh, and don't burn your fingers! :D
|
i just scraped mine off with a box cutter. it peeled of pretty easy. there were some stubborn parts but it only took a few hours

razor blade and adhesive remover

Ammonia based window cleaner works best. Once the film is off, use some 000 steel wool and more window cleaner to get the remaining adhesive off. Be very careful around the rear widow defroster elements
A close friend installs window tint and this is the technique he uses. |
On a sunny day take amonia based cleaner as PORSCHE944 said. Concentrated windex is best. apply cleaner generously to the window. While it is nice and wet stick a black plastic garbage bag up against it. this will allow the sun to really heat it up. This makes for easier removal.
