Power Windows (I know!)

The electric window on my passenger door closes really slowly and the window motor sounds as though its really struggling. I have had the door trim off and had a look and tried various things but can't make it any better. Would a new motor solve the problem? How easy are they to fit? It looks a hell of a job!

when you had the door panel off, did you lubricate all window regulator pivot points and track and ensure the glass guide track felt was not binding against the glass? Lubrication helps tremendously.

Taking the window regulator and motor out is not such a bad job. I have doone it several times and it is winding the window down @ 1\2 way then removing the wires and @ half a dozen or 8 screws to remove the regulator. You can then remmove the window by pulling it up towards the inside of the car. Remocve the regulator through the hole towards the rear of the door and about 1\2 way up. Reverse the steps to reinstall.

One thing I would do first is run a power wire from the battery or a power supply to the motor to see if it is just a lack of power to the motor. If the motor still winds slowly with a known good power source then we would be inclined to think it was the motor.

I see you live in the UK, I am looking for a OEM rear fog light for a 1980 931/924T. If you come across one in your travels for a reasonable price keep me in mind.

I lubricated everything incuding the window felts and it's still the same. I've not yet tried taking power to it directly I will try that tonight. When the window does go up there are a lot of clicks and bangs. I tried every adjustment I could see but no success.

I'll look around for a fog light and let you know.
