Drop the Sony head unit! Pick up a Blaupunkt San Jose for about $15 more. It plays MP3's, has great sound quality, and comes with a remote. I have one in my '87 924S and love it. Look for them on Ebay for about $145-150.

Yes buy all that stuff on ebay and you will save even more. I bought the same rear speakers and they sound good and I have the Pasedena 71(Blaupunkt) but it dont play mp3 but it is a good unit so the I too would recommend Blaupunkt. You cannot beat the prices on ebay sometimes you want to kill them for their service or lack of. Later

I'm not sure if the front speakers will fit (depth wise). Just remember, not many speakers are shallow enough to fit. I agree, don't buy anything that says SONY on it. However, I say get a pioneer head unit or a Kenwood Excellon if you're willing to drop a decent amount of cash on it...but I guess everybody you talk to is going to tell you something different.

< ---- Car audio installer for the last 12 years.
I'll say this in regards to speakers. Don't buy them based on brand names, and other people's recommendations. Recommendations are great to go by as to what brands you should audition. But it's your own ear and listening preferences in the end that will be important. Take everyone's recommendation into consideration, then visit your local audio shops so that you can listen to and critique the speakers you want. Once you've decided, then you can go online and purchase them. Just because one person likes the taste of poop, doesn't mean everyone will ![]() I had a customer come up to me once and tell me he was very displeased with his stereo system. He said it didn't sound good, and he'd like his money back. After I sat in the car and listenned to it, he asked me what the problem was. I told him "Only problem I can hear, is you bought a bunch of Sony speakers, and installed them with a Sony head unit, sounds like a bunch of Sony crap." His purchase was based on 2 things, looks and price. He didn't bother to listen to them before the purchase. Head units for the most part, within reason, add little coloration to the sound. Though I will say, some decks do tend to sound better out of the box. I personally prefer the Pioneer/Premier line-up myself. Sony has been on a rapid decline since they chose to eliminate Mobile ES from their line-up, and go after their new generation of customers with the Xplod crap(teenagers). I should also worn you about online purchases. Most companies do not condone the sell of their products online. Therefore most of your online purchases will carry no warranty, no matter what the seller says. You can usually email the manufacturer about said seller, to find out whether or not your purchase will carry a warranty.

thanks for the tips blue quest. As for the speakers. I have heard them, and i do like their sound. as for prices, the ebay route wont save me much. These guys are priced about what Ebay sells at so its not bad. And for the extra $20 or so im spending, its nice to know im getting speakers from a company not some random person i dont really know
