1983/1985.5 and 1985.5+ 944 winshield, compatible?
Except the fact that the 1985.5+ windshields came with a radio antenna, will a 1983/1985.5 windshield fit a on 1986 951?
Thanks alot |
I don't think so. The earlier cars had a recessed windshield, and the later cars had a flush windshield, Right?
|
I'm not sure about this, but I have an early '85 with the built-in antenna. Does this mean I have a windshield from an 85.5??
BTW, mine is all cracked, and I am looking for a new one, anyone have any laying around? |
1985 1/2 + have antennas built into their windshield and more of a flush look to improve aerodynamics and lessen the slipstream around the trim that surrounds it

the 85.5's also have the updated dash style.
|
so you are saying the flush glass has nothing to do with the 85.5 changes. I thought 85.5 was the first year for flush glass and was definitly the first year of the update dash style. IMOP, the dash does affect the windshield. The updated dash is extended foreward to meet the glass. A early dash, late glass car would have a big open space in this area.
Kobe-944, does your car also have a regular fender mount radio antenna ? |
The question is not if my car is early or late, I know that it is an early '85. I do not have the antenna under the fender, I think the previous owner took it out and covered the hole with bondo. The windshield antenna is not connected to my stereo. Was there an option for the built in antenna in the older cars?
