87' 944 NA Speedometer broken...

Just bought an 87 944.
It has the normal problems which I will be pounding you guys with after fruitless searches on the forums.

Problem to be rectified #1:
The PO changed the Speedometer sending unit a year or so ago and the speedometer still never worked.
I thought at first it may be the connection at the Gauge Cluster and have not ruled that out yet. The other problem is that the Cruise control doesnt work, which makes sense as it needs info from the Speedometer.
To my knowledge, after an hour of searching, both the Cruise Control and the Speedometer get their info from the same Sending Unit.

Anyone have a pic of its location on the Automatic Transmission?

I want to pull this unit out and ohm it.

Check the transfer gear in the speedometer. The OEM's break all the time.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

Pulling the Gauge Cluster as soon as I get time to check that very item.
I hope that fixes the Speedometer/Odometer but I'm still left with the related problem of the Cruise Control. (Not an issue with me...just related)

Where is the sedning unit located on the trans?

Trans sender is in front of and on top of the drivers side axle.
