starting funny

Hey guys got one more guestion. This happens very rarely Ill drive my 968 around town and then stop for a wile go out and try to start it and it just turns over maybe starts for a second and dies takes a few minutes and then it starts, also only one time wile I was driving did it actually die, it didnt just cut off it struggled to keep running and died. I pulled over and turned it over for about 15 seconds and it started. Im not sure where to look, could it be the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay. Is there any way to test either of these to, if not one of these what might it be. thank you

First thing to check is the DME relay. The contact points wear out and this can cause the fuel pump to quite working now and then. Buy a new one and replace yours. If this doesn't fix it then it's diagnosis time.

P.S. Most of us have a spare DME relay as this is the part that fails the most on the electronic injection system. My spare DME relay is in the glove box next to the annoying buzzer I pulled out 19 years ago.

Sounds like a loose connection.

Check the sensor cennectors on the firewall at the rear of the motor. these are for the referance and tdc sensors and if loose will exhibit this same phenomenon.
