It would be a risk - a non-running car. You have no idead what all might be wrong with it. If you replace the throwout bearing you should do the whole clutch - a big job. If you want a project - give the guy a call and offer $2500. Count on putting at least another $1000 in parts into it, and lots of labor. Only worthwhile if you do-it-yourself.

The only car that you would wanna see turn 200,000 would be yours. You don't know how that car was driven before you. It gets worse than clutches. What about the transmission, ring and pinion, synchros etc. The motor, valve springs, guides, lifters, cam, piston rings. There will be way more than just $1000 to spend.

There are much better Turbos out there (with solid maintenance records) for the price he's set his reserve at ($6000).
