Is this deck good?

Is this deck good? It looks like it has a lot of value (the onboard crossovers, and other features...) but my said friend he's always heard "bad" things about sony decks, and i'm like "what the hell?!" isn't sony bad ass?
i like the features, and the way it looks

Sony's information (i know, it's on crutchfield... but that's where sony.com took me...)
http://sm.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S-hprZHSctPUB/ProdView.asp?s=45&c=3&g=62700&I=158CDXMP70&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

and.... i found it for this price
http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?stk_code=soncdxmp70&svbname=30

i think it would look good with the silver plastic around the a/c and gauges in the console

good or bad buy?

thanks!

sony has always been overpriced
the only thing that really matters in a deck is:
rms power (x4 (for four speakers)) - how much power it can continually produce
peak power (x4) - how much power it can make for a short period

depending on your wants/needs:
plays cd's cd-r's
has auxilary power outputs for an amp (the better ones have 2 sets of power outputs (for 2 amps)

well, does the deck, from the statistics it has and features, is it reasonably priced ($255) for this model compared to other similar decks from other manufacturers

i disagree. sound reproduction is not simply abt rms and peak power though those numbers are useful. being an amateur sound engineer and also a Dj, i don't recommend sony car products as they are overpriced and seems to consist of more flash then product.
sound quality will depend more on your speakers then your receiver. i typically recommend alpine and MBQuartz for receivers and Infinity Kappas for speakers
woofers and amps for them are a whole 'nother story

Sony's seem to be alright, nothing all that great tho. It just depends on how good you want your system to be. If you just want something thats alright to listen to a few tunes the sony would work fine. I would personally stick with a brand like Alpine, Clarion or Kenwood.

Seems pretty good for that price range, It all just ends up which options you want. Options = money. Just look at a few other decks and you can easily see which has a better options/price ratio.

Goku, how much you looking to get for the 12? When kind of condition is it in?

i REALLY like the looks of that deck, i hate decks that have those gay ass movies play on them, those are wastes of money, and dumb as hell. i also like knobs better than buttons. i also like the built in crossovers.

Looks a little too high-tech/flashy for the 944s interior, but if you like it, then that's all that matters i guess. I am satisfied with the Sony MobileES headunit that I have in my Audi, but if I were to get something new it would probably be an Alpine or Nakamichi.

infinity perfect is the best in the market

I had a 10
it was crazy loud

my advice on sony:
go to best buy
test the 1000 watt sony to the 600 watt rockford fostgate
the rf is way louder
