Installed an Idle Stabilizer Valve......now what??
A couple of days ago I replaced my Idle Stabilizer Valve. Getting that intake off was a *****! I just took off the old one and put on the new one. That all I did.
When I first started the car - it revved at like 2000+. After driving a bit, it went back down and idles fine, but the past two mornings (on start up), the car revvs high again. First, what should a 944 idle at right after starting it up? Does it rev high for a bit then come down? Second - I know I was supposed to do something after installing the ISV, like re-setting the idle - but I can't find any screws on the throttle-body to adjust. I think I'm supposed to disable the ISV, set the idle and the hook it back up......anyone know how to do this on an S model 944? All in all, the new ISV stopped my dipping idle. It has dipped like four times in three days since the new one has been put in, but it catches itself and goes normal - as opposed to before when it would dip to almost stall and then idle at like 400 Rpm, which really was horrible. Thanks all..... 944S Boyeee

944S : Jumper between pins B and C on the test plug and adjust the idle warm with the large screw on the throttle body.
Remove the jumper. Drive car. If all you find on the throttle body is a large hole where the large screw should be buy a new large screw and large O-ring to fit it.

Thanks so much So-Cal.......
I'm guessing that the jumping of B and C disables the ISV? I have asked this particular question so much, but I'll try again.....where EXACTLY is this screw? I need pics or an actual person to show up at my house and point it out to me!!!! I can't find the damn thing, nor the hole where it should be! 944S Boyeee

I posted pics of the idle speed controll valve and the idle stop screw on a post that Edwardo something Something started, and I think there is a pic of both @ temp rebuild site

I do. They are the two bottom pics right above the lifters. Don't have pics of throttle stop screw, but idle speed screw is well represented.

Well, should have read the FWSM's a little closer. Having a 944S you are basicially "self adaptive". Meaning it does it all by it's lonesome! What modern electronic wonders!!!
The info is in the FWSM first engine section.

Lisa, For the 85.5's and newer 944's there is a large round "Test Plug" mounted on the drivers side fender just in front of the fuse-relay box. There should be several pins (and an LED depending on car year).
You have to jumper between pins B and C to over ride the DME's strong desire to keep adjusting the idle as you try to adjust the idle. Pulling the plug on the idle possitioner will center the IPV but not make the DME happy resulting in some interesting performance quirks.

SoCal - so if I jump B and C, what do I do to adjust the idle?
If it's self-adjusting, will jumping B and C and then just removing the jump re-set the idle??? 944S Boyeee
