Back on the road...
Hi there
I've been mostly lurking here for the past few months, with the exception of a few posts with pressing questions I've had. Anyway, I bought a 85/1 NA with a thrown rod from a friend of mine a few months ago (my first Porsche), rebuilt an engine from an 83, and installed it Sunday. After turning it over a bit to get the oil flowing, I installed the plugs, hooked up the wires, and blammo...It fired right up without hesitation. Didn't even need a jump. I set the rings after work today, and drove it home. This is the first time the car has moved under its own power in 6 months or more, but the money and effort were definitely worth it. Now comes the fun job of getting rid of the mysterious squeaks and clunks, body and paint work, and then the interior. I just wanted to say thanks to everybody here for your advice and expertise, even if I haven't properly introduced myself. But now that I'm armed with a little Porsche knowledge myself, you just may see me here more often from now on. Thanks, and remember to drive swiftly but safely! -Tom |

Fantastic! For some reason Willie Nelson's "On The Road Again" is playing in my head.
