"Rare? I don't know about that, I read Porsche made more 968CS models than regular models!"

They are very rare in America. At last count, there were zero.

At last count, there is 1. One man is lucky enough to have not only the only CS in America, but the LAST 968 Coupe to roll off the production line in 1995. Must be a good life.

I wasn't sure if we were talking about America or ROW, so that's why I made the comment about there being more of them made. And also, I took "rare" to just mean the production numbers agaist the regular cars. Sorry if I confused things.

I know of two, and maybe three 968 CS cars in the US.

Here's the first owned by Rich Tillotson [article recently in 911&Porsche World]:

The second is midnight blue metallic in North Carolina [?] owned by a guy named Joska.

And the third is a white coupe that was on Ebay about 18 months ago...it had Ruf Speedline wheels like mine but the reserve wasn't met. Not sure where it is now.

I know of ZERO 968 Sports in the US.

As previously mentioned we have two 968 Turbo RS cars, one now in Texas [No. 4 Jason @ Paragon - uh oh I said Paragon] the other in LA [louisiana No. 1] which can be found on Lindsey Racing's website at a cool $100k.

There is ONE 968 Turbo S [speed yellow] but it's had a rough life, no longer has original engine/trans. It was also for sale over a year ago and when I contacted the seller a few weeks later he said he'd sold it:

the more i look at the 968, the more i realize it is ugly. 951 is faster than a 968 n/a... so whats the point?

i totally disagree... i love the round headlights on the '68 and the rear is pretty sweet also but don't get me wrong, i love the way a '44 and '51 looks... ulitmately it's just a matter of personal taste

and though the '51 has a higher hp, i tend to pefer NA cars cause of the smoother and wider power band. of course there are exceptions to this rule (Audi S4, twin-tuboed by lots of torque and S2000, NA but no low end)

and like i posted in the thread 'Turbo charge an N/a?'

Personally I would rather swap my 2.5 liter 8 valve to the 3 liter 16 valve. or instead bore out the cylinders and get titanium valves and cams (then increase compression and further advance spark timing thereby increasing RPM's)
i'd rather get more horse from RPMS and increased displacement than charging it

Speed isn't the only factor in car quality. If that were the case, we'd all be driving riced Civics. The 968 is newer, smoother, and more technologically advanced. In other words, it IS a better car. The 3.0 liter engine is a marvel and it purrs like a kitten. Is the 951 faster? Yes. Easier to tune? Immensely. But that doesn't necessarily sell me to the 951.

Actually, I kinda want a 944S2... best of both worlds!

I love the looks of the 968. (except with the lights up)
That yellow one is absolutely gorgeous.
It was going to be my next car, and I would have turbocharge it,
but I think I'm leaning towards the lotus espirit turbo.
Then putting in the 968 eng. and turbocharging it!

Hey Britwrench, where is Gerber Motorsports?
What do you guys specialize in (tuning, repairing, customizing)?
I'm in Seattle too, it's very nice out.
