Oil Press Indication

With Ignition "ON"..oil pressure gage indicator is at (Zero) 0-bars and the oil pressure light is on. Once the engine is started, the indicator instantly jumps to 5-bars and the oil light goes out. There is no unusual engine noises. After hard driving and coming to idle(900rpm), the oil light comes on dimly however the indicator is still at 5-bars. After engine shutdown turning the ingnition quickly back to "ON", the oil light is on but the indicator is still at 5-bars. after waiting for approx. 20-seconds, the indicator will drop to 0-bars at a constant rate. 85.5na 944.

Good bearings. My OP drops faster than that.

May have ground issues between the block, chassis and battery. Clean them all and see if that makes a difference. Also clean the connections for the two wires at the OPS.

These two wires snake around the front of the engine and over the belt housing then back under the intake with the rest of the engine harness. Could have been pinched during a valve job. Check that they are laying loose other than where they are clamped to the engine.

Other wise it may be new sender time.

Likewise, I have a fresh rebuild and it shows 5 bars. No variation, just straight to 5. Must be the sender or ground??

my fresh rebuild starts at 5, and stays at 5 while I'm driving. Idle, it goes no lower than 3.

Problem Solved...The conduit for the wiring harness from the oil pressure sending unit had become very stiff (brittle), and broken in several places. I cut the harnes near the AFM intake duct and spiced in new wiring. Indication is now, 2.5 bars at normal temperature and Idle RPM and 4.5 bars at normal highway speed (55MPH)(15w-40w Rotella T).
