Post Turbo "pfiiiii" sound?

Hi there!

Is the mythical "pfiiiii" sound noticeable on stock 951's? On mines, the sound is louder than I'd have expected. When the car is cold, the sound is considerably loud from as low as 1.1 bar. It's almost as loud as the engine sound from inside the car. When it gets warmer, I can still easily hear the "pfiiiii" but it's less loud.

When I bought the car, I got everything inspected and the Turbo was practically brand new but they didn't identify it. The owner told me that the manual boost controller was located directly on the Turbo, can it be possible? He had changed it recently, I don't know if it's a stock K26#6 or an aftermarket one. How can I identify it?. I was wondering if the sound was caused by the boost controller @ ~14 psi or if it was normal?

Thanks guys!

Hi Yan to ID your turbo you will have to look on the mfg plate on the turbo it will say what model it is.....
As far as the waste gate whoosh goes not really shure what your hearing , but to help things along when do you hear this whoosh?
I am thinking that you should hear it when you let off the gas and you have been boosting ...(to shift or slow down)
I dont ever recall hearing the wase gate on mine it is pretty silent I can get about 1.7 bar and mine does not have any mods other than some different chips ......... so what do you think???? Stan
