Post Haybes repair manual

I just got the haynes repair manual for the 944. on the cover it says:

Porsche 944
1983 thru 1989
all SOHC engine models

inside the pictures, atleast the ones of the interior are clearly early models(83-85) that really doesn't bother me at all but i was wondering weather the engine was the same, from early to late 80s 944s.....does anyone have this manual?

Those of you with 16v engines mean you have DOHC and not SOHC.

Hey friend, I know what you mean! I had the one labled '83-'86 and bought the one labled '83-'89 thinking it would show the things that are different on the 85.5 and newer cars. It didn't , same book except for the title. Bacisly they are the same same car but some small differnces like the newer idle control valve has 3 pins not 2 . The book only gives test data for the 2 prong one and stuff like that. Haynes needs a kick in their but for doing that. I bought a new book based on false advertising.

Hydraulic refers to any mechanical part that is driven by a fluid ... since the cam is driven directly by the timing belt, it is NOT hydraulic.

The Haynes book has many innacuracies related to the later cars. The book shows the older Aux Air Valve and not the later Idle Control Valve, the wiring diagrams shows the earlier two micro-switch design for the sunroof motor rather than the three switch version. It even lists the wrong spark plugs for my 86, compared to the official Porsche Parts and Tech Ref manual.
