i'm thinking of buying a 924 turbo 1980 but when the engine is up to running temperature the oil pressure drops to 1 and the oil light comes on... i read a post dated 14.02.01 by jon a headed new 924 owner with questions. one of the replies by amcporsche924powerhaus had the problem down to a tee. he said try turning on the side lights to see if that affects the guagues and it does. my question is...... how would i go about correcting the problem. i will do a complete oil change / service etc and maybe even change the bearings. i think it needs a good home..... the body work is excellent. thanks

Check the oil pressure using a mechanical gauge. If it's too low you should remove the oil filter and cut it open; check for bearing particles in the filter element. These engines are pretty tough so if there is a pressure problem the engine is likely to need major repairs.
It may well be an electrical problem, so make sure you can diagnose and verify the fault before doing anything.
