Smile Porsche port and polish... want me to post DIY info?

hello,

as you may know, i'm going to port and polish the heads on my 924 myself. i have consulted with dozens of people and i am going to start the polishing as soon as this weekend if possible. i am going to take photos for myself, but i could write up some basic instructions also if people are interested.

is anyone interested in this? if so i'll remember to make notes of the whole process.

thanks

obin

I would like to know the process.

What does port and polishing achieve?

frees up about 20HP or so, if not more in the 924. the bottleneck in the 924 was that the head was strangled for air. as you know, engines work off of 14.7:1 air-fuel ratio. what porting and polishing does is enable the air to get better mixed with the fuel going in... and a smoother exit out of the engine.

a friend of mine has a ported and polished 924 and that car is a freakin ROCKET! i thought it was a beefed up turbo. this is without any cam changes also!

ok guys, i'll make sure i document everything i do. i'll keep everyone posted.

thanks!

Hey Obin-

Could you get some baseline figures for the before/after comparison. Dyno, 0-60, 1/4mile or something similar? It would be very interesting to compare.
