Clutch Kits: Where, How much, Whats the best?

I'm thinking about emptying my savings on a clutch. So, i want to know what is the best clutch kit (Disk, Pressure Plate, Throw Out and Pilot barring, ect.) that i can afford. I think i may be able to spend as much as $600.00. I want something aftermarket that will hold plenty of power but is still easy to shify smoothly.

If you have any links that would be great.

i bought one from Vertex for less than $400. The set includes their in-house Power Friction disk (comparable to the Sachs Heavy-Duty spring disk), a Sachs pressure plate, and a Sachs throw-out bearing.

I will eventually go with Pelican Parts OEM clutch kit on my '84. They have put together an all-inclusive kit that has all main pieces AND all the nuts and bolts you'll need. The all-inclusive turbo kit runs about $700.

I installed the Vertex spring centered clutch. My old rubber centered clutch exploded. I think it was the original. I don't notice much difference in "feel" but it seems to hold better than my old one. (before destruction) I payed $360 for it through the advertisement in Excellence. Hope this helps.

I bought a three piece set from pelican. (and a clutch alignment tool) I paid around 500. I probably could have saved a little, but the help I've gotten from this forum is invaluable.

ok. so i think i have decided on one.

Spec Stage 2

The Spec Stage 2 is what i think i want. Does anyone know anything about Spec clutches? Do they hold power pretty good, do they last? The stage 3's engagment is a little "less smooth" is it worth it? Aside from the Pressure Plate, Clutch Disk, T/O Bearing and Pilot Bearing what other hardware do i need? I guess the 9 bolts, and the guide tubes. Anything else?

and this time i think i'm just going to let someone install it for me. i realy don't want to screw it up. so i won't need the clutch alignment tool.
