Antenna
Hey Everyone, Is there a tool that is used for removing antennae from these cars? I can't put my cover on the car properly with it on.

Nope, the antenna is probably a non-retracting one. You would have to install a manual or power antenna so the cover would fit.

the mast doesn't simply unscew from the base? (mine has the leads in the windshield so I'm not familiar with standard porsche aerials)

most car covers come with a stick on patch for cutting/covering the antenna hole you cut into the fabric.

on mine mast threads out and I stuck a plastic body plug into hole
anybody have the threaded mast section? Mine is gone and would sure save some work if I could just procure the mast. thanks

If you have an 83-84 or early 85 with the power antenna, replacing the antenna takes about 2 hours. Performed this task last weekend on my 83. While in their, rewired the entire radio to speaker setup with new wires.
Radio now works fine and the antenna goes up when required then retracks so that my cover will fit. I'll have to fix the hole in my cover now that I have the proper antenna. We reused the orignal wires and installed new connectors between the old wires and the new wires. Used the new antenna cable than came with the antenna kit and rerouted the antenna wire from the antenna to the radio. |
